Our Executive Chefs are trained in some of Europe and Asia’s most reputable restaurants and draw inspiration from Asia’s vibrant food culture, as they prepare all meals with the freshest ingredients. The bar and wait staff will go to the Nth Degree, from knowing how you like your coffee at breakfast to your preferred white or red wine at lunch.

Portobellos / L’Amour

With up to only 32 guests an evening, the exclusive and intimate Portobellos or L’Amour showcase sumptuous regional specialties. The delicious five-course menu features either Italian, French, or Portuguese cuisine (depending on your cruise location), paired with elegant wines, and is available on all European river cruises.
 

Table La Rive / Table d’Or

Featuring a six-course meal, the exclusive Table La Rive and Table d’Or on our European river cruises offers an intimate dining experience for only 10 guests per evening. Guests staying on the Diamond Deck for 10 nights or longer, as well as Royal and Junior Suite guests staying for up to nine nights, will be invited by our Executive Chef.
 

Chef’s Table Dining

Take a culinary journey through Southeast Asia when dining at Chef’s Table. Exclusively for Diamond Deck guests, this experience offers an enticing 10-course dinner with matched wines for up to 10 guests, and is available on our Southeast Asia river cruises.

Scenic’s European Safety Standards

Scenic is the only river cruise company in Southeast Asia that designed, built, and owns its ship, operating to  European safety standards. Scenic Spirit includes marine paneling for noise reduction, high-end water purification systems, a guest elevator, and self-service laundry.

• Vespa Foodie Tours - In both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, ride on the back of a vintage Vespa to sample local and authentic delicacies and street food after dark.

• Bird Sanctuary (Chau Doc) - Explore Tra Su Bird Sanctuary in Tan Chou. Home to an array of beautiful wildlife and birds, it is a haven for nature enthusiasts and photographers.

• Tethered Balloon Ride - In Siem Reap, take a tethered balloon ride for aerial views over Angkor Wat (weather dependant) and visit a handicraft factory specializing in Lotus flowers.

• Bike Ride to Tra Que Village - Ride a bicycle to a local farm in Tra Que Village to join farmers preparing the land and assist in picking greens. Prepare ‘Tam Huu’, a local delicacy, and enjoy a home-cooked meal with ‘Bánh Xèo’, a specialty savory pancake.

Moderate

• Hanoi Highlights - Explore city highlights such as Ho Chi Minh’s Quarter and Mausoleum, Presidential Palace, and Hanoi’s first university, The Temple of Literature.

• Discover Temples and Mines - In Siem Reap, explore the 10^th Century Banteay Srei Temple, known as the Ladies Temple because of its pinkish sandstone, and visit the Landmine Museum to learn about the safe removal of mines. 

• Tonlé Sap Lake Cruise - Cruise on the UNESCO biosphere reserve, Tonlé Sap Lake, and discover the way of life of a floating village (available July-mid March only).

Relaxed

• Lantern Making Class - In Hoi An, gain insights from an NGO, aiming to develop skills to provide employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Undertake a Lantern Making Class at an old merchant house.

• Cooking Class - While in Phnom Penh, take a guided tour of the local market with their fresh local produce. Then, join a hands-on cooking class to make a local delicacy.

• History Museum, Hoa Lu Prison - Be enriched by history in Hanoi – a city that wears its history on its streets. Hoa Lu Prison, built in the 1800’s, has a storied history about the Vietnamese who fought for independence from French colonialization.

• Receive a Blessing from a Monk - At a Buddhist pagoda in Cambodia, as part of a special Scenic Enrich experience, receive a blessing from a practicing monk in a small and calming ceremony that aims to protect you. Prior to this, you will participate in an alms ceremony where you will make a contribution towards their daily meal in this ancient tradition.

• Support an NGO at Sunrise - Watching the sun rise over magnificent Angkor Wat is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Scenic takes this one step further, however. We are committed to designing and operating our ships in an efficient and more sustainable way, thereby reducing the impact of fuel consumption on the environment. We have engaged the services of Ecollective, an independent third-party organization, to calculate the average carbon footprint of our guests and assist in setting achievable targets.

Sourcing Sustainably

Where feasible or possible, fresh produce is sourced from local markets and the on board herb garden (available on selected ships). Our goal is to source sustainably to support the communities we visit and avoid the extensive footprint of food storage and transportation. We have developed sustainable procurement guidelines to ensure all staff and stakeholders are compliant.
 

Reducing our Waste

As we constantly look at new ways to reduce our waste, we are proud to have been working to eliminate single-use plastics on board – all our ships are already over 95% single-use guest plastic free, which so far means we have removed more than 2 million* plastic bottles from use.
